Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using SkiMoMap (skimomap.com and the SkiMoMap mobile application), you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Mountain Safety Warning

Backcountry skiing, ski touring, and mountaineering are inherently dangerous activities that can result in serious injury or death. Please read this carefully:

• SkiMoMap is a planning aid, not a safety device. It must not be relied upon as a navigation or avalanche safety tool.
• Avalanche overlays, slope data, and terrain information are derived from third-party sources and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. They do not replace current avalanche forecasts or on-the-ground assessment.
• It is your responsibility to check weather forecasts, avalanche bulletins, and local conditions before every outing. Always carry appropriate safety equipment (transceiver, probe, shovel) and know how to use it.
• Never ski, ride, or travel beyond your ability or fitness level. Your choice of route and terrain is solely your decision and is undertaken at your own risk.
• We strongly recommend traveling with experienced companions or a qualified mountain professional.

By using SkiMoMap, you acknowledge these risks and accept full responsibility for your decisions in the outdoors.

Description of Service

SkiMoMap provides an interactive mapping platform for backcountry skiing, ski touring, and mountaineering. The service includes map visualization, avalanche safety overlays, route planning, and related tools. Some features require a user account or paid subscription.

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use SkiMoMap. If you are under the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Payments and Subscriptions

Paid features are billed as described at the time of purchase. Prices are displayed in EUR. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. See our Refund Policy for details on cancellations and refunds.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute map data beyond personal use
• Interfere with the operation of the service

Your Content

You retain ownership of routes, waypoints, activities, and other content you create on SkiMoMap. By saving content to the service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display it as needed to operate the service.

If you mark content as public in the future, you grant SkiMoMap a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, distribute, and promote that content within the service. You can make public content private again at any time, which revokes this license going forward.

Third-Party Data and Accuracy

SkiMoMap aggregates mapping data, satellite imagery, avalanche overlays, topographic maps, and other information from third-party sources (listed on our Attributions page). We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of this data. Terrain conditions change constantly and may differ from what is shown on the map. Never rely solely on SkiMoMap data for safety-critical decisions.

Intellectual Property

The SkiMoMap service, including its design, features, and code, is owned by SkiMoMap. Map data is provided by third-party sources subject to their respective licenses.

Limitation of Liability

SkiMoMap is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. This includes, without limitation, any injuries, damages, or losses resulting from outdoor activities planned or undertaken using SkiMoMap data.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of SkiMoMap will be resolved in the courts of Finland. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also retain any rights available to you under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of SkiMoMap after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
